What did we do?

The form of this clock was inspired from the quote “time is a target to meet”. The form of a target was referred to while making this clock. The rings of the clock suggest the rings of the target and the led lights showing the time suggest how target and time never remain constant but keep moving forward.

This form exposed the led lights fully leading to a not so visually appealing image when seen from the front. This gave a very mechanical and incomplete look to the clock.

This form was an iteration to the previous form, it solved the problem of exposed led lights by having a tapering surface which was able to hide the lights yet give a visual which was the glow of the light and was also appealing to the eyes.

However, this form was difficult to manufacture because of the taper angle. Manufacturing these clocks with such a taper angle would increase the cost unnecessarily.

This form solved the problem of the tapered surface. It has rings of different sizes which hide the led lights, but show the glow of the light on the bigger ring at the back giving a visual for the user to read time. The Arduino, sensors and the wires go on the backside.

There was no need of three rings in the clock. The hours can be shown on one ring while minutes and seconds can be shown on another ring together. Thus making the clock with 2 rings was quick and wise. The clock is a hanging clock, thus had to have a suspension. This rectangular extension hangs the clock from the beam/ wall.

Physical Form

The form was laser cut. Material used ws MDF of 2 mm thickness. It was combined together using glue gun and fevicol. For hanging the clock, there are 5 holes on the frame of the clock. The curved surfaces of the clock were made by creating designs on the mdf to make it flexible.

One side was made curved in order to make it look sleek. The size was made to fit the breadboard and the circuit.
